Moving To Colorado Inspires Care Home Cook

Writer, Travis Guberud from Englewood, Colorado, is hoping to be discovered as a writer with his Fantasy story, Namirith.

Travis has entered the Page Turner Awards, where published and unpublished fiction and non-fiction from all genres can enter their writing to get discovered by high-profile judges from the literary world. In particular, Travis is hoping that one of the literary agents and publisher judges will get hooked on his story and publish his work.

Although a full time cook in a local nursing home, Travis funnels all his free time into writing. He would love to have the locals from Colorado supporting him. Readers can vote for his book and add any constructive feedback to his story, thus helping him improve his chances of getting noticed by the judges here: https://pageturnerawards.com/fantasy/namirith

Why Namirith? Travis said the story is about two brothers on their journey toward an artifact akin to the holy grail. Bonds can form between the most unlikely pairs and the story focuses on humanity, trust, and understanding in times of extreme change.

Travis moved to Colorado to build a creative space for himself and is now trying his hand at writing the great American novel. Though leaving loved ones behind was the most difficult thing he’s ever done, the freedom he gained and felt by the move has jump started his drive to write his novel.

Travis said, “It can be daunting staring at a blank document, waiting for the story to come, but giving myself the space and time to thrive has made all the difference. Writing is my passion, but it's also a serious business. If I hadn't put myself out there, the novel in my hands would still only be in my head. I encourage everyone to look at what they want to accomplish and set themselves up for success, no matter what it takes.”

The Page Turner Awards, sponsored by ProWritingAid, will change writing careers. Two different awards, the Writing Award and the eBook Award, aim to help writers and authors to get discovered.

The Page Turner Awards offers writers and authors the chance to enter unpublished or published fiction and non-fiction books, where a group of literary agents will read the work. One writer is guaranteed to be published.

Travis said, “These awards are a chance for me and any writer to break out! With a chance at being published and receiving honest feedback from readers and judges alike, the Page Turner Awards are invaluable to authors.”
