I’ve always had a passion for taking a blank page and creating something interesting. But publishing novels came late for me. Perhaps that was a good thing. After all, life experiences bring a richer understanding that can enhance anyone’s writing. The inspiration to write my fist novel was sparked by the birth of my first grandchild. It gave me the chance to leave him a path to a more impactful and happy life. And hopefully a little inspiration .
My 'Pyrate Series' novels follow the life of Garret Connachan, learning as a young girl how to earn the right to a captaincy in the most challenging of environments -- a ship full of sea raiders under the mentorship of the legendary Drake. Over the four novels, Garret becomes an agent of Queen Elizabeth and leader of her own crew. She takes a protege under her wing (Kat) and finds herself having to hide from both the English and Spanish navies on a pirate-infested Caribbean Island, where she emerges as a leader of leaders. She passes the baton to Kat, whose journals survive and find their way into my contemporary fiction novel. I paused the Pyrate Series in order to write "Deception Bay", the debut novel in my Caribbean Adventures series. It contains elements of crime and budding romance. The main female protaganist in Deception Bay is a direct descendant of Kat, and now has possession of Kat's 300-year-old journals.
I'm honored and humbled to have been named a PTA finalist for four of my five novels.
