She has a lifelong passion for history, and taught life sciences to pre-medical students at Washington State University. Her background in medicine and research helps to reawaken the 19th century. The location of the novel is in the Great Lakes region, where Pat was raised in a multi-generational home. That familiarity brings more heart to the story.
