Overall:

Dr. Weiqi Wang is a scientist who travelled the world. After he graduated in Beijing, he went to University of Oxford and obtained his PhD degree. During that period, he travelled Europe and started writing the Code of Rainbow Series. Then he went to the east coast of the US and spent one year in Rhode Island as a postdoctoral researcher. Next, he drove across the country for Stanford University, where he worked as a data scientist and his responsibilities included multiple projects with NIH (national institute of health).

Thanks to his scientific background and passion in magic fantasy, Weiqi has a theory that science and magic could be connected in a certain way. He tends to believe that the invention of the word magic was to describe the supernatural phenomena that ancient people couldn’t understand. One typical example is that the lightning bolt spell in magic settings looks the same with a supernatural phenomena in the reality, named ball-lightning. This magic-like yet realistic phenomena has still not been well explained by the current state of science, meaning that we must admit the limitation of the science and stay open-minded.

Therefore, Weiqi took advantage of his knowledge in science and put his theory into the Code of Rainbow, a teen fantasy book series that nurtures the bloom of MAGIC in the soil of SCIENCE. The magic in this enormous world is different from the "traditional" concept, because it's backed up by realistic, physical scientific theories. As the story goes on, you'll enjoy the unique charm of science and magic merging into each other - something that has rarely been attempted before. To facilitate children's reading, Weiqi made efforts to make the transition from magic to science happen bit by bit as the story went, so the early books do read like a "mainstream" magic fantasy.

Book 1:

Soarame has a pair of special eyes. He can see magic elements in this world, which are supposed to be invisible. This enviable gift of his could reveal the truth of the world, but it also puts him in danger.

Many animals in this world possess magic power, so they are called “magimals” - dragons as examples. Soarame fortunately got a baby magimal as his best friend, but they got into troubles together - troubles that were a lot bigger than dragons.

Could they survive?

Book 2:

A year passed since the MagiMax incident, and everything seemed to be peaceful. Until one day, Soarame and his friends received a threat from an unknown source, and they must rescue a dear friend by battling wild magimals – an invasion of them so big that it is called a "beastide".

The friends devoted themselves into this scary task, but who had been secretly plotting against them?

Book 3:

Due to a shocking discovery, Soarame now has to undertake a new dangerous journey with his friends. He must cross the largest, most deadly ocean in the world. Battling more powerful, evil wizards, he was forced to escape underwater, and stay in the bottom of the ocean for weeks.

But how could a teenage boy survive underwater, especially that there were lethal creatures down there? And what further perils are waiting for him, if he really survives?
