Celebrate! (1)

Let us celebrate our Lord God!

Let us fix our eyes with wonder

upon our Lover who has no beginning or end.

Let us bow in His presence

absorbing peace and relief for our hearts weary of sin.

Let us celebrate our Lord God!

Let us dance in the freedom

He granted when he pardoned our souls!

Let us embrace and kiss one another

to express gratitude for His great gifts.

Let us grasp each other's hand and

stand face to face gazing at His wonders.

Let us celebrate our Lord God!

Let us know laughter through tears

of joy for His incomprehensible love.

Let us unify in partnership

With all others who proclaim His truth!

He Hears (2)

I praise You Lord because You heard my prayer.

When I was burdened by sadness

And what I could not understand

You answered my plea.

You have intervened, dear Lord, with Your truth.

At the level of my emotions

You lifted the heaviness of my heart

Troubled within me.

You acted with love according to my petition.

You bestowed to me a portion of grace

Generously measured from

Your immeasurable wealth.

You lightened my soul.

My fear, my sadness, my frustration

Replaced by Your peace, Your hope, Your patience for

You are their infinite source.

What other “god” accomplishes such things?

To transform a heart or renew a mind

With truth to refresh a worn-down soul.

Only You.

Only You.

Awe (3)

The beauty of Your pure love is too wonderful for my mind and heart to absorb.

My breath is taken from me.

The fire of Your holy, jealous love could consume us all and leave no trace.

My soul trembles.

The depths of Your merciful love rescued me though snared in my own rebellion.

My lips are silenced.

The demand of Your righteous love sacrificed Him who You loved first to pay for my evil.

My knees buckle.

The endurance of Your strong love never weakens according to my deeds.

My arms reach for You.

The hope of Your faithful love confidently awaits the day of Your perfection in me.

My heart’s strength is renewed.

You alone are truly God.

There is no other that can compare to You.

Beware Deception (5)

Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with You as my Redeemer and Lord,

I am prone to lean on my own understanding

Convinced that some aspect of my transformation has concluded.

Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with Your expert orchestration of my life,

I believe that I can know much better

Than Your authority established in wisdom over me.

Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with Your unconditional love accessible to me,

I still surmise that to pick and choose

Whom I will love or not is a prerogative I can exercise.

Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with Your magnanimous forgiveness of my offenses,

I am convinced it is permissible to shun

Those who have caused frustration or pain in my life.

Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with Your blessings bestowed beyond my need,

I withhold and only carefully mete out

The wealth of resources within my possession to those in need.

Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with Your example of volunteer loving-humility,

I allow my pride to override numerous chances

To expose my weaknesses and allow You to heal me.
Oh, how deceived I can live!

Even with You as my God and Counselor,

I forget how much I daily need You

To show me who I am and who I am not.

Oh, how truth-filled I can live!

Even with Your Spirit revealing my heart’s reality,

I am not condemned but given great opportunity

For knowing freedom from deception’s crippling of love.

Confession (6)

Oh God

My only true Lord

I weary of wanting You yet chasing other things

I tire of words from my lips not matched by my actions

I cannot bear to hear my confession of negligence repeated

I am frustrated and stuck in the mire of my lazy faithless ways

Oh God

My only true Lord

I cry out to You to rescue me from my foolish entanglement

I want You because you are worthy of being fully wanted

I desire to praise You in word and deed to protect the glory of Your Name

I ache for freedom in obedience because You have freely forgiven

Oh God

My only true Lord

Thank You for granting faith to one such as me

Thank You for forgiving this wayward child

Thank You for transforming me patiently

Thank You for trusting me as a steward of Your love

Weariness (7)

I need to close my eyes and feel sun soaking a glow into my face

I need to have warm wind gently wrap my whole body ‘round

I need my skin to tingle excitedly with heat

I need my lungs to inhale air of an invigorating new season

I need my feet engulfed by sun-kissed sand

I need deepest corners of my soul refreshed by wave’s lingering mist

I need to open my arms and dance to a bird’s favorite song

I need time of intimacy with my God underneath a smiling blue sky

It’s been a heart’s long winter

Divine Purpose (8)

Long ago

In Your heaven You said

Set them apart

So, for such as time as this

You have given us

Life and breath and everything else

Though You have given these to all men

Yet we are set apart

And as such You determined

Our exact time for life and

Exactly where we should live

Your infinite wisdom and love

Has set us apart

Not by merit of our own

But only by merit earned on our behalf

By our precious Jesus

Your Son’s death, resurrection, forgiveness

Sets us apart

In accordance with the measure of faith

You’ve given us to be for You

Daily, living, loving sacrifices

As Your chosen ambassadors and servants

We have been set apart

Equipped with Your armor for battle

Against the devil’s schemes and unseen forces

To take our stand and be found standing after all
May then Your purpose for us

As set apart

Be accomplished that we might help lead

Those seeking and reaching for You

To be found by You, rescued, and set apart too

Lord of wonder and grace, increase

Those set apart

That together by Your Spirit in us

We can worship and adore You with our lives

Showing more souls Your marvelous salvation

True Freedom (9)

In confession and repentance there is freedom

In submission and humility there is freedom

In weakness and lack of control there is freedom

In tears and brokenness there is freedom

In relinquishing demand and manipulation there is freedom

In Your law and Your Word there is freedom

In choosing forgiveness and love there is freedom

In wrestling and battle there is freedom

In perseverance and endurance there is freedom

Freedom from the slavery of self

Freedom from the claustrophobia of addiction

Freedom from the pressure of constant acting

Freedom from the frenetic desire to be always right

Freedom from the oppression of comparison

Freedom from the bitterness of disappointments

Freedom from blindness to Your transforming work

Freedom from the error of preconceived notions

Freedom from doubting the truth of Your love

Freedom allows Your Spirit to teach us to love each other deeply

Freedom allows Your Spirit to open us to receive love

Freedom allows Your Spirit to heal our mind and heart wounds

Freedom allows Your Spirit to show us Your heart and mind

Freedom allows Your Spirit to enable us to stand against the enemy

Freedom allows Your Spirit to push us beyond comfort and familiarity

Freedom allows Your Spirit to speak to and through us whenever You want

Freedom allows Your Spirit to soften our hearts with compassion for others

Freedom allows Your Spirit to make us grateful for Your generosity to us

Freedom allows Your Spirit to give boldness to speak Your great Name
