English Teacher and proud mother of three and a grandmother of four, Suzanne Smart from Huddersfield has been shortlisted in the Page Turner Awards for her manuscript P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. I.M.P.R.I.N.T. - Lasting Impressions for Transformation and has won a writing mentorship from Karen Williams of Librotas.
Sponsored by ProWritingAid, the Page Turner Awards gives published authors and unpublished writers, of fiction and non-fiction from all genres, the chance to have their writing discovered by high-profile judges from the literary world.
P.O.S.I.T.I.V.E. I.M.P.R.I.N.T. - Lasting Impressions for Transformation is a narcissistic sexual and physical abuse survivor’s guide to recognising and relinquishing the fear triggers, and positively impact their lives by reconnecting with their inner spark, to find their self-esteem, and create a life of purpose for themselves and a legacy of peace for their loved ones and communities.
During her years of systematic put-downs and drunken attacks, Suzanne contemplated suicide, but instead decided to leave the life of narcissistic and physical abuse. Instead of running away any longer, she faced her deepest, hidden fears and took ownership of them. Once this happened, and she began to heal, she set about making a difference to other abuse survivors with her book.
Suzanne is passionate about her mission and makes tangible changes to people's lives after only one coaching session; such is her gusto for leading others to a life of fulfilment and joy. Her zest for life is evident in all she does, and she spreads positivity and love to everyone she meets.
Suzanne said: “The Page Turner Awards are a sterling way of giving unpublished or obscure writers a chance to shine in the publishing world. No matter what stage of writing you are, there is always a chance you will be shortlisted or even win a prize! It's great for old writers and new. Winning this mentorship is a dream come true.”
As The Book Mentor at Librotas, Karen’s area of expertise is to support business authors to write a self-help book, how-to guide, or memoir, and ensure that it enables them to build their business and authority.
Karen chose Suzanne to mentor because she could see within the first ten pages that the author had a personal story, and alongside this, the book was linked to her business.
Karen said: “The start of the book hooked me in, which is incredibly important when you only have ten pages to make a great impression. I could also see how I could help Suzanne to develop her book to ensure it has the best chance of success.”
Karen will help Suzanne to explore her story, so that it adds value to her book, enabling her readers to get to know her and ensure that the book is aligned to her business so that it enables her to maximize its success.
Next year’s Page Turner Awards already has several literary agents and publishers as judges who are actively seeking writers to publish from the entries.
The judges also include influencers in the publishing industry, plus an audiobook production company giving published authors the chance to get their eBook and printed books into audiobooks.
