Adele Smaill

Adele Smaill writes thrillers and horror - mainly features. She started writing screenplays a year into the pandemic and has not yet come down from the high of reaching the 2022 Academy Nicholl Fellowship quarter-finals. Local to usually sunny Adelaide, Australia, she's also lived and worked in the U.S., the U.K., and Aotearoa/New Zealand taking on a range of jobs from casual orchestral violinist (a long time ago) to data warehouse design. She's a migrant - not an ex-pat - and issues around migration often figure into her writing.

Competition placements to date include the 2022 Academy Nicholl Fellowship quarterfinals and a semi-final placement in the TSL Free Screenplay competition.
