Sayan Kent is an accomplished playwright, librettist, composer, and emerging screenwriter with a passion for storytelling that explores identity, belonging, and cultural intersections. Transitioning from acting to writing, she earned an MPhil in Playwriting from the University of Birmingham and has collaborated with esteemed companies such as the Royal Shakespeare Company, Kali Theatre, and the Belgrade Theatre. Her notable works include Another Paradise, My Big Fat Cowpat Wedding, and Hecuba Birangona, as well as operatic pieces like It Takes a City, which premiered at the Royal Albert Hall in 2022, and HER DAY, showcased during Coventry City of Culture.

Sayan's writing has garnered recognition in major competitions, with her plays being shortlisted for the Peter Woolf Supports the John Whiting Award and the Terrence Rattigan Award, and longlisted for the Bruntwood Prize and the Papatango Prize. She was also a joint winner of the Capital New Writing Festival.

She has earned broadcast credits with BBC's Doctors and a short film. Sayan enjoys writing drama with a darkly comedic edge. Recently, she completed her first YA novel and is currently working on a collection of short stories. Her script, Thursday's Child is currently in the top 2% of discoverable projects on Coverfly.
