Toby Smith

Toby is a screenwriter with big ideas and an even bigger love of cinema. Films have always affected him on a visceral level; as a toddler, he had to leave the cinema because the sound was so intense... He pursued screenwriting at university, developing a passion for the auteurs of the cinema: Jean-Luc Godard, Michael Haneke, David Lynch, and so on... His dream is to write stories and conjure images that resonate with people on a deeply personal level. Toby believes that films are not mere entertainment, but an artform as valid as any other, and that films made nowadays should reflect this. Toby has won several awards for his short scripts, but is keen to broaden his horizons, and cannot wait to share his work with the world.
