I am an historian and landscape architect, now living in northern New Mexico. I lived and worked in the Middle East for twenty-five years on the conservation and sustainable use of arid landscapes. Though I have published a number of academic articles on the natural and cultural history of Arab Islam, Interval is my first novel. In the 1980s I was a Peace Corps volunteer in Belize, and my experience there shaped my life and career – a love of landscape, geography, botany, maps. I’ve returned to Belize over the decades – my most recent visit was the inspiration for Interval.
