After graduating from Texas A&I University with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology, I worked in law enforcement, including an undercover assignment on the east coast. My experience included a stint as a Special Deputy US Marshal traveling to Europe and the Middle East. I received an Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer award before leaving to teach criminal justice classes to US military personnel in Berlin, Germany. While residing in Germany, I won a gold medal in an international pistol competition sponsored by the U.S. Army. After returning to Texas, I was promoted to detective with the Temple Police Department.

I left law enforcement for law school, earning a law degree from Baylor University. I practiced law as a prosecutor before venturing into private practice in Fort Worth, Texas. Later, I joined the staff of the Texas prison and parole agency as an Assistant General Counsel, specializing in religious-based lawsuits filed by inmates. Following my retirement, I began a foray into writing crime fiction under the pen name of Alan Brenham. My wife, Lillian, a retired Army officer, and I currently live in the Austin, Texas area.

I am a member of the Mystery Writers of America and the International Thriller Writers. My publishing credits include five crime novels under the pen name of Alan Brenham. A sixth novel is under contract.
