Like her protagonist, Diana, Barbara has camped overnight in Antarctica without a tent, but did not sleep nearly as well because she was wondering how she and the other campers would survive if the Russian captain abandoned them in the night! Barbara was short-listed in the 2023 Retreat West Competition. She was also a finalist in the 2022 and 2023 Killer Nashville Claymore Best Thriller Award, and was a judge in the 2022 Scintillating Starts contest (finalist in 2021 contest). She has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and worked for years as a Patent Attorney, focusing on environmentally related technology, as well as technologies relying on rare-earths, at issue in this story.
