Born and bred in Walsall in the West Midlands, I moved to London in my early 20s with very little to my name. Spending over a decade in the city, in a dramatically different socio-economic environment, had a lasting effect on my writing. Much of my work has a 'fish out of water feel' to it. The protagonists are often sheep in wolves clothing, punching above their weight and looking to adapt themselves to fit into environments that could be deemed beyond them. Tales of very ordinary people, in exceptional or unprobeable circumstances.
I most enjoy writing comedy, drama and a blend of the two. I originally started out writing scripts laden with gags and funny plots, but since becoming a father and experiencing other landmarks of the soul, I’m equally drawn to tales that feel much closer to the heart. In whichever genre, I want to write TV shows and films that people chat about on the bus, in the pub and at the office coffee machine. Good stories have always brought people together – something we need now more than ever.
