I'm Karl Birro, but write under the pen name CL Hyde who was my uncle and was killed when an able seaman on HMS Sheffield in WWII. My pen name is a homage to his memory and the life he should have had.
For over thirty years I worked in corporate glass towers, which I wandered into after completing a Ph.D. in something suitably arcane. Thanks to my escapologist wife and four children schooled in tunnelling, I was freed and celebrated the first anniversary of my dash for freedom by publishing my debit novel Eyes Shout Secrets.
I enjoy wonderful coffee and the absurd, the utter variety in particular.
