As a boy, I lived on RAF bases, developing interests in espionage. After University, I started to work with offenders and wrote stories for young men with limited vocabularies to help them learn to read. Moving into training, I published three management books and Guardian articles.
My Cold War interest was sparked by a seminar, where a retired V-bomber pilot revealed that, during the Missile Crisis he’d told his wife he might phone up to shout, ‘Bundle the kids into the car and drive away from the RAF base.’ She replied, ‘Even I can’t drive faster than a jet bomber.’
After fiction courses (City University, Faber etc) and mentoring from authors, (Caroline Green), my first draft was selected as a Killer Nashville Claymore Prize 2022 finalist. Revising it, I’ve employed a professional editor. I’m halfway through a prequel and sequel with the same characters.
