Retirement has meant, in theory, I have more time to spend on things like writing. A lifelong reader, my wife has given up commenting on how often I have a book in my hands. English was always my best subject at school and I have used it in a career in technology in writing reports and technical documentation. Now I am enjoying using it to write stories that I hope entertain those who read them. I tend to keep a very low profile on-line, I don't partake of the various anti-social media options. For me being social is having a meal and drink with friends. It probably makes me a grump and out of step with the modern world but I don't care!

The entry for the Page Turner Awards is from the first in a series of books set in an alternate history/world where at a critical point in the history we know, changing the decisions he can make of an historical figure of note, changes the world. The books, number six is currently in progress, are not easy to categorise as belonging to or in a single genre as besides an alternate history in which many known historical figures appear, there are elements of adventure, paranormal and supernatural, crime, thriller, steampunk, fantasy and a little romance thrown in for leavening.

Not quite the kitchen sink but the alternate history is the core throughout and has allowed a reimagining of history from 14th century Paris to the late Victorian world. Behind it all is a group of individuals who are working towards a better world for all, but also find that there are moral dilemmas to their actions. If you had the power to prolong everyone's life, would you, could you, should you, do it? Members of the group whose lives are prolonged include historical figures, Nicolas Flamel, Nostradame, Da Vinci, and Newton are amongst those who make contributions to the groups aims and with extended lives their work is not cut short by three score and ten.
