ERIC MURPHY

Eric Murphy is a writer and actor who worked in Paris, London and New York before he, his wife, children and dog Otto now call Toronto home. Fluent in English and French, Eric worked as a commercial rep for a French designer while researching his MA thesis on French foreign policy towards Israel.

His fascination with politics motivated him to write two spy/action thrillers (one adapted from his novel Blowback that won the Roadmap Writers’ Write Start competition).

He credits his interest in motorcycles, sailing and horseback riding, along with his volunteer work as a youth coach in basketball and baseball with his writing three YA thrillers, all published by a major Canadian house. He has since adapted them into screenplays.

During one of his many trips abroad, Eric sustained a boxer’s break to his left hand while stopping a man engaged in domestic abuse.

Eric’s commitment to social justice earned him three ‘volunteer of the year’ awards for his 125 blood donations and his 5 years of volunteer work with Out Of The Cold, feeding the homeless and working poor.

A moral compass guides his work, which he intends should entertain as it also invites his audience to think, feel and care.
