Gigi Skolnick

After a forty-year career teaching middle school in Los Angeles, I’ve regained a semblance of freedom and have picked up my mighty pen to throw myself into the literary arena. The goal is to officially demonstrate my ability and worthiness as a talented writer to write projects across the board -- scripts, manuscripts, and educational materials. My great grandfather was a scribe, so I guess that means writing is in my blood.

During my career as a teacher, I found a need for a middle school Health Education workbook so, I wrote and self-published one called TO BE A DOCTOR. The Workbook and Teacher's Edition contain my own creative lessons based on my "hands-on" approach to learning. I was subsequently honored by the Los Angeles Board of Education for motivating students.

The Workbook has been updated, and I have another educational manuscript ready for publishing, but have yet to find an agent that will represent "educational" materials.

The manuscript, JUST ONE INCH entered in this competition corresponds with the script that has won 16 awards so far. My dream is to have Spielberg produce and direct it. Hopefully getting the manuscript published first will generate interest in the script just like FIFTY SHADES OF GREY.

In-between writing, you will find me volunteering with Los Angeles Animal Services helping animals get adopted, and at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center delivering flowers to patients.
