My mother’s family are Indian-Baghdadi Jews, and I am directly descended from the Sassoon family on whom the ben Kaifs are modelled, which I believe gives me a unique vantage from which to write this complex story. After graduating from the University of Reading, I worked as a screenwriter for an independent film company in London before turning to fiction a few years ago. I live in south London, where I grew up, with my partner and two-year old daughter, and am currently working at the Charing Cross Theatre as a duty manager.
