I was born in Perthshire (Macbeth country) and although this is my first novel, I have been writing in some form or another for most of my career. This has included working as a musician, actress, teacher, translator and interpreter. I now live in Edinburgh after many years living and working in Amsterdam.
I have a B.A. (Hons) in English Literature from the University of East Anglia, a M.A. in Creative Writing from Edinburgh Napier University, and a Dip.Ed from Edinburgh University.
