Helen is a new writer in her late 50s, focusing on inspirational memoir and creative non-fiction, through prose and poetry. She has had a couple of small pieces published but this is her first book. She believes she has a story worth sharing that will inspire, connect and bring hope to a wide audience, especially those navigating family trials and traumas; or those who simply share her passion for faith, family, acceptance, love and journey.
Helen’s yet-to-be-published memoir INTERWOVEN recounts her rollercoaster story through unexpected trauma and trials over a twenty-year period and her attempts to find the grace on-route to stay true to self and firm in faith, whilst everything she believes is tested and recalibrated. It starts with a catastrophic hot-air balloon accident (Part I), twists through family tragedy (Part II), lurches through the trials of special needs parenting and unconventional marriage (Part III), and ends with... well, will it ever end? This memoir is real, gritty, with hints of humour, and infused with love and hope. The journey is recounted through simple storytelling, with the creative narrative set mostly in rich scene. Reflections, poetry, images, and extracts from medical notes, press releases, and correspondence support and complement the narrative.
Helen lives in Yorkshire and juggles work in the NHS with caring for her adult disabled daughter.
