James.Hill.Author

My name is James J. Hill III, and in March of 2021, I self-published my first Novel, "When the Dandelions Sing". About 8 months later, I was able to publish my second one, "Phoebe's Heart of Stone".

I've always had a strong passion for reading and wondered if I had the ability to come up with a story of my own, and if so, could I figure out how to publish that. So started my journey into this amazing hobby.

I grew up in a town that saw most people simply get by in life, but I always wanted more for myself and my children. In school, I never really did well. I was either skipping class, or focused on anything and everything, but the work in front of me. I barely got my high school degree, and because money was tight for my family, I never did make it to college. But that never stopped me from working hard or having a desire to succeed.

For the last 15 years or so, I've been an award-winning Real Estate agent, who simply had a hidden passion for writing. In the 48 years of my life, I've never submitted anything, nor wrote more than a social media post, so this was and is all very new to me.

In my everyday life, I am the single father to 5, yes you read that correctly, 5 daughters! They are the ages of 5,7,9,11 and 25. Each has such an amazing personality and style, that I am constantly amused, as well as on my toes. Having these girls has changed my outlook on life and allowed me to enjoy the simplest of things.

Social Media has been exciting for me, as I love to interact with people, and it's allowed me to get my stories out to those same people. My sphere has been amazing and supportive, and many of them have purchased my first and second novels.

I've done a few book signings and local events, and each has been inspiring for different reasons. Truly I enjoy talking about my stories, the characters and where they came from, and listening to others tell me what chapter their favorite was, or how they followed a particular character along the way and were excited when they ended up doing this or that in the novel. Many told me they cried at a certain part of the book, and I remember feeling the same way as I sat and wrote those same parts.

I've enjoyed this trip so far, and hope that it is far from over. I have many more stories planned, and characters just itching to have their say.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you were able to get to know a little more about me through this.
