Judy Brulo

I grew up in Shepshed, Leicestershire (UK). I studied at the Guildhall School of Music, London. After graduating, I worked as a professional violist and teacher.
My love of writing emerged through the need to create material for my Early Years music groups. Then, along came the real inspiration: grandchildren, Kaia and Taio, for whom I wrote stories on almost a weekly basis.
I lived in Cambridge for many years, before moving to Cyprus for six years. I now live in North West Warwickshire with my husband, Alex.
I spend my time writing and presenting Reading-MusicAction sessions.
I have published ten children's books to date, the most recent of which is 'Tweaked Tales' (2023). Among previous books is the Vulture Island Adventure Fantasy series for 8 - 12-yr-olds.
The Vulture Island Adventure Fantasy series comprises, 'Revenge of the Servants of the Gods' (2018), the 2019 Eyelands International Award-winning 'The Mystery of the Never-Ending Universe', the short-listed 'Swords in the Sky' (2020), the short-listed 'Buried City' (2021), and 'The Kingdom of Trung Trung Karmo' (2022). I am currently working on the sixth book in the series, 'Leave No Footprints' (working title).
Research for the Vulture Island Trilogy led me to the Vulture Conservation Foundation who have since supported my books. I was invited to share the stories with them during their first European Vulture Conference in the Algarve in 2019. The late Professor Peter Mundy of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) recommended the series, reviewing it enthusiastically.
The Vulture Island series aims to present exciting adventure stories and at the same time highlight the importance of this much-maligned species in our ecosystem.
My ambition is to see the Vulture Island series adapted to an animated TV series.
