Julie Scolnik

I am a concert flutist and the founding artistic director of Mistral Music, a chamber music series which is known for its virtuosic artists, imaginative programming, and the personal rapport we establish with our audiences. (www.MistralMusic.org)
In earlier years, I was a busy freelancer, performing as principal flute with many of Boston's leading orchestras. I have made over three dozen featured radio appearances. Since my treatment and recovery from breast cancer in 2005, I have been committed to finding ways to play and organize benefit concerts which raise funds for support for underserved women with the disease, including two full orchestral concerts with the renowned British conductor Sir Simon Rattle. I live in Boston with my husband, physicist Michael Brower, and our two cats, Daphne and Chloë. We have two adult children, Sophie Scolnik-Brower and a son, Sasha Scolnik-Brower, also musicians, and we perform frequently together. I have released three commercial solo CDs and dozens of live performances can be found on the Mistral Chamber Music Youtube channel.
Paris Blue, a memoir of first love, is my debut memoir. It is a story that has embedded itself in my heart and mind for over forty years, one that I knew I would have to tell one day. I am thrilled to finally share it with the world.
