Justine Gilbert was born in New York, but lived mostly in Europe. Her debut novel, Daisy Chain was published in March 2023 by Claret Press, historical fiction about the women who surrounded Roosevelt's presidency. Daisy Chain was shortlisted for the Paul Torday Memorial Award 2024. Her second novel was a murder mystery set in the Tuscan hills called Montecatini, a place where she lived. Her third novel is a dual timeline involving the end of the Cold War and a mother’s secret set against her daughter’s life, Anna, who meets a Ukrainian ex-soldier just before Ukraine’s invasion. It is an updated twist on Anna Karenina. All her stories are inspired by real events, where she seeks to evoke the human story behind the news headlines.
