I was brought up in Herefordshire but I've lived in London for half of my life, working as a history teacher. During my free time I write crime fiction stories which are influenced by current social issues and my working class background. At present I have written two completed, unpublished novels and I am in the middle of writing my third. It has taken me some time to build up the confidence to write, and then allow people to read the end result. Previously, I'd only ever written reports, diaries and lesson plans. I would like to say that I grew up in a household full of books, in fact it was the opposite. This all changed when I went to university and had the opportunity to read a wide variety of literature. It feels as though I have been playing catch up ever since. My favourite authors at the moment are Bernardine Evaristo, Matt Haig and Susanna Clarke. One day I aim to write a novel which will be described as a modern classic. It may take some time to achieve this goal, but persistence is one of my main qualities.
