Kimberly Mallek resides in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. During the day she runs a creative studio, specializing in brand development, packaging and animation. In the evenings and weekends, she is sequestered somewhere in her house, the library, or a coffee shop dreaming up plots and characters for her next book. She is currently seeking agent representation.
Kimberly loves YA and contemporary fiction especially with romance and a super natural or speculative twist. Some of her favorite authors include: Margaret Atwood, Blake Crouch, Ray Bradbury, Lisa Jewell, Colleen Hoover, Lauren Oliver, and Tarryn Fisher.
Before beginning the journey of novel writing, she began her story-telling career as a songwriter and performer recording three full-length albums and actively participates in local musical theater productions. In addition to her musical repertoire, she has produced with her animator husband, Patrick Mallek, award winning animated shorts.
As an award-winning Art and Creative Director, she has worked with many national and international Fortune 500 companies such as: Walmart, GoGo squeeZ, Celestial Seasonings, Whole Foods Market, Wild Oats Market, Harmons Grocery, and Allegro Coffee.
When she is not busy creating, she enjoys spending time with her thirteen-year-old daughter, her devoted husband, and running the hills and trails of Colorado.
She is a member of the Rocky Mountain Fiction Writers, and served on the Executive Board as Treasurer for four years. She is also an active member of Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) and is a query/first pages reader for Wanderlust Literary agency. Additionally, she sits on the Advisory Board of the AIGA Colorado as their Business Advisor.
She has attended three Colorado Gold Conferences and will keep writing even if her projects never make it past the slush pile.
