Michael is an award-winning screenwriter and producer, and Facebook’s former Chief Privacy Officer.
Michael writes, directs, and produces elevated genre and prestige projects for film and television. He is currently producing Only Apparently Real based on an award-winning screenplay which he wrote about a break-in at Philip K. Dick’s house. He is directing Triceratops Summer, a time travel romantic comedy which he wrote based on the short story by Michael Swanwick. He is serving as an executive producer on the Disney Plus series The Talented Ribkins, which he helped develop based on the book by Ladee Hubbard. And he is producing Free Radicals (starring Isabelle Huppert), Landfill Harmonic (written by Jose Rivera), and Old Man’s War (with Netflix).
Michael previously wrote and produced Torn, starring Emmy-nominee John Heard, Faran Tahir, Mahnoor Baloch, and Dendrie Taylor. Torn received a theatrical release after it won the award for Best Feature Film at the Oscar-qualifying Rhode Island International Film Festival, and was subsequently acquired by Amazon.
In addition to working in film and television, Michael served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco, and co-founded and served as the Chief Creative Officer of Aftershock Comics, which won the New Publisher of the Year Diamond Gem Award after its inaugural year. Prior to that, Michael was an early employee at both Facebook (where he was the Chief Privacy Officer) and eBay. Michael started his legal career as an entertainment and media attorney after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. He studied literature and drama at Yeshiva University.
