Michaela Wadzinski is an award-winning director, writer, and story artist. She’s originally from Sioux City, Iowa but now resides in Los Angeles. Despite her new life in the city, she finds that her work is still heavily inspired by the cornfields she grew up in. She loves to tell character-driven stories with a lot of heart and a healthy dash of comedy. As a woman, it’s important to her to tell female-driven narratives.
As an introverted child, Michaela was able to find her voice for the first time among fellow filmmakers. She grew up with an incredible passion for animation, but found a second love in live action. She can often be found working in either medium, or mixing the two. Her animation background helps her bring the imagination of the medium to live action, while her live action experience brings technical knowledge to animation.
The short films Michaela has written and directed have been shown in over 60 film festivals around the world and won multiple awards. Including the Ron Clements award for Excellence in Animation at the Sioux City International Film Festival.
