Nikki Vallance

Novelist, podcaster and creative adventurer, Nikki began writing her debut novel Pivotal whilst working in her recruitment career, having set a goal to inject creativity back into her life. It was a 2020 finalist in both The People’s Book Prize and the Page Turner Awards. She has adapted the book to a 4 part mini-series and is hoping her relationship mystery can now reach an even wider audience through the small screen.

Nikki is currently in the process of writing her second novel, ‘Someone You May Know’, a dual timeline love story of second chances, which is already shaping up to be as engaging as her first.

During the pandemic Nikki set up a Facebook community, The Lost Books of Lockdown, to match authors with readers who otherwise would never have met and broadcast 42 live Author Showcases and 10 Business of Books interviews with publishing sector experts.

Having caught the broadcasting bug, she extended the community to all creatives, and launched The Creative Switch - a podcast which explores the how, what, why and who of creativity and exists to inspire the sensibly successful to follow in Nikki's footsteps and switch on their unexpressed creativity for a more fulfilled life.

The Creative Switch has received high praise for its insightful interviews with distinguished guests like TV Chef Theo Michaels, world-renowned soprano Nadine Benjamin MBE, and best-selling author Ruth Hogan, showcasing the transformative power of creativity in achieving success beyond their original career paths. Its compelling conversations packed with nuggets of wisdom have made it a beacon for aspiring creatives, showing just how life changing the pursuit of your creative passion can be.

Nikki loves talking to her readers at book club events and festivals. She ran workshops on 'How to get Published' and 'Marketing for Authors' at the Herts Book Festival in May 2022 and 2023, as well as chairing authors in conversation talks, 'Life and Love' and 'The Rules of Romance' and is returned as a volunteer again this year.

As for creative adventures, Nikki's latest comes off the back of achieving a long held dream to learn the Argentine Tango in Buenos Aires. Lessons with her husband have now become a regular feature of her weekends back home. Who knows where her dancing feet will take her next?

She believes there's no need to put your creative ambition on hold until you retire. She is living proof. You can get there too, one recipe, painting, book, TV Script or aria at a time. As George Eliot allegedly said, ‘It’s never too late to be who you might have been.’
