Pam Henry has been writing stories for children since she was a young girl with some success, but during the Covid lockdowns, she had plenty of time to ramp up her efforts.
Her three children are all grown and flown, and she lives in Wiltshire with her husband and their young Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Bowie. Both sides of the family have their roots in Ireland, so when a publisher in Dublin was asking for children’s stories of Irish interest, Pam began to do a bit of research.
The result, featured in the April 2023 edition of Writing Magazine, was the first in a series of four middle-grade mythical Irish adventure novels, ‘A Saucer Full of Secrets’ being published on 1 August 2022 and entered here for the Book Awards. All four books were completed by February 2022 each based on the search for one of the Four Treasures of Ireland. The remaining three, The Solas Dragon, The Lost Steps and The Ninth Rune, are as yet unpublished and are entered here for the Writers Awards.
