Peter Howard

I grew up in Zimbabwe and Zambia, and went to university in England. During my 20s and 30s, I squatted in London, hitchhiked through Africa and elsewhere, and started and ran a furniture making, interiors and museum showcase business that eventually employed about 100 people. I now spend most of my time writing fiction, but do a bit of work as a consultant to pay the bills. I'm an alumnus of the Faber Academy 'Writing a Novel' course and spend as much time as possible writing in my shed.

As a teenager I edited Gunpowder, an ‘alternative’ school magazine, and ‘Phase 1’, distributed at the Isle of Wight festival. At Oxford and later, I wrote travel reports, poetry and stories.
