Writing is what I am and who I am. It’s what keeps me human and in touch with the person I was, as well as the person I am now. Writing is the place I disappear to in the snatched hours before breakfast and before the responsibility of pills and food for my disabled wife kick in each morning. In a world of constants, it’s a solace, an escape, the thrill of the unknown. It’s an excavation of the private in a life lived in service of another. It's also given me a fresh opportunity to feel as though I belong in a community of art-makers. It's been like taking a new breath.

As a writer I've had plays performed at the Edinburgh Festival and am a member of the Page to Stage group of writers at the Printers' Playhouse in Eastbourne. This is my first screenplay and is based on the place where my wife grew up as a child.
