I grew up in a small town in the centre of England and left as soon as I could. I spent many years following whims, living in Italy, Spain and Saudi Arabia, but then brought up my children in England. Paid work over the years has included cooking, graphic design and teaching English as a foreign language. Since returning to Britain in the 1990s, I’ve worked on magazines as a sub-editor and as a freelance journalist contributing to the Observer, the Telegraph and various magazines.
My published journalism can be seen on the Guardian and Telegraph online archives.
I’ve just finished and revised my first draft of House in the Woods, a post-menopausal coming-of-age story where the dark secrets of a 1930s dream cult are revealed, whilst my memoir titled Me and Men is simmering away on a back burner.
I speak Italian fluently and divide my time between Kent and Sardinia.
