I grew up in a small town in the centre of England and left as soon as I could. I spent many years following whims, living in Italy, Spain and Saudi Arabia, but brought up my children in England. Paid work over the years has included cooking, graphic design and teaching English as a foreign language. Since returning to Britain in the 1990s, I’ve worked on magazines as a sub-editor and as a freelance journalist contributing to the Observer, the Telegraph and various magazines.

My published journalism can be seen on the Guardian and Telegraph online archives.

In the last few years I've run a life writing course at a mental health recovery college and am organising a writers' retreat in Sardina for Autumn 2022.

I’m currently working on a new novel about the power of dreams and a memoir titled Me and Men.

I speak Italian fluently and divide my time between Kent and Sardinia.
