I have worked as an addiction specialist for many years, and in that time perceptions about addictions have hardly changed. It is my great passion to 'change perceptions one book at a time' To this end I have written three non-fiction and one fictionalised story about life and treatment in rehab. I have worked in rehabs in England, Jersey and Holland. In my books, I talk about a method of treatment and recovery that has enabled me to have over 30 years of recovery. It is used in many treatment centres but misunderstood and often misrepresented. Obviously, my work and writing take up much of my time, however, my other great passions include the world of gemstones and jewellery. I have often said that in another lifetime I would love to go digging for opals in Australia or chrome diopside in Russia. I probably will not but would jump at the chance! Travelling then completes my list of passions. People-watching in some far-off airport is a great love of mine! My hope is to be able to continue writing and trying to change the current narrative about addiction. This would mean of course that more addicts would find and keep recovery or maybe with added knowledge swerve the disease completely.
