Hello there! I am a third generation Japanese Canadian writer, family physician, surgical assistant, award-winning visual artist, animal lover, scuba diver, and accident-just-waiting-to-happen. Eight broken bones and a torn ACL later, I am still downhill skiing, playing tennis, scuba diving, and hiking (Macchu Picchu), but I don't play ice hockey or horse back ride anymore. I did not break anything riding the ostrich in S. Africa (of which I am both proud and relieved).
I have self-published a medical science fiction series. The first book, Welcome to the Madhouse, was short-listed for a Watty Award for Best Original SFF Novel and was considered by two different Hollywood producers for possible adaptation to the big screen but then Covid came along and no one wanted to make a film about a deadly virus on a space station. SAVING GRACE is the fourth book in the series and HIRO'S HARDSHIP is a YA SF novel placed in that universe. They are soon to be released.
I have completed an adult historical women's fiction novel about my paternal grandmother immigrating from Japan to Canada (A GOOD JAPANESE WIFE) and am now writing the duology novel, a Rags-to-Riches historical romance based on my maternal grandparents (he a peasant and she a picture bride who come to Canada with nothing and build a twelve store clothing chain stretching across Western Canada). I have also been working on a dragon fantasy trilogy which is still in production.
I live in Southern Ontario with my chiropractor husband (chiropractor and doctor married? Oh my!), two cheeky Maine Coon Cats, and an Akbash/ Great Pyrenees puppy named Samwise Gamgee who will soon be too big for our little house.
I can be reached at sasakisharon@gmail.com or by cellphone at 1(519)837-7690.
