I am a scientist by training with a Ph.D. in aeronautics from Moscow State University in erstwhile Soviet Union. I have translated several technical books from Russian into English. I own a small company that specializes in providing innovative technical solutions for aircraft and marine industries. I have conducted exciting research for NASA for over four decades, own several patents, and some of my innovations have found both research and commercial applications. One of a family of airfoils that I designed at NASA has been used in the wing design of a well-known military aircraft. Champion sailboat teams that have won the prestigious America’s Cup have also used my innovations. I am not religious but I spent several months in a Japanese Zen monastery doing zazen (a sitting meditation) for over eight hours a day on the average for several months. Debugging the Mind and a sequel to it that I am currently writing have emerged from my personal interest in understanding innate human nature. The presence of wonderful people in every society has convinced me that we can transform the world from a battleground into a playground.
