I am a husband, father, outdoor enthusiast, and admirer of history. As an author I seek to portray the beauty of our magnificent world, create stories that ignite curiosity, and weave in insights we gain through history. I believe the lessons of the past are pivotal to our progression today and the beauty of nature provides an anchor upon which our minds and hearts can gain a calming balm in our tumultuous world. As such both history and nature are foundational elements of my works.

My novel Simon is my first historical fiction. It is a story that focuses on the status of hearts in a world of uncertainty and how our choices determine the types of people we become. Though set in ancient Rome, I sought to bridge the gap of time and make the events upon which the book is built come alive to us today.

The idea for this story ignited in my mind after watching a film depicting the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. For some reason I was enthralled with the man called Simon of Cyrene, he who was completed to carry the cross. All we know about him is his name, where he was from, and that he had at least two boys. However, one historical lesson we learn through the New Testament is that no encounter with the Savior of the world was by chance. There was always a higher purpose.

This novel seeks to provide insight into who Simon of Cyrene was and how his short walk to Golgotha may have changed him. At the same time I wrote it in a way to show how God may work in our lives to prepare us for our moments with the Savior.

I hope you enjoy it!
