Claire Chandler

I have always had a great passion for writing and specialised in scriptwriting at film school. My 27-year career has been in technical production within regional news, though my love for creating stories and new ideas has been a very important part of who I am.

My writing experience is outlined below in order of most recent:

What Lies Beneath – currently writing my first novel which I started in 2022.

Script Mentoring (2018/2019) – Worked with script editor and mentor, Karol Griffiths, for twelve months to develop pilot episodes for two original TV drama series “The Door” and Shadow Dancer”.

Emmerdale (2016) – Work experience placement in the storylining department, working with Mark Bickerton as a mentor.

Hollyoaks (2015) - Writing trial working with Jo Combes. Feedback: Trial script was inventive with beautiful subtext and linking of story strands.

Doctors (2015) - Writing trial working with Lyn Washbrook. Feedback: A fantastic opening scene and the story kept me gripped throughout. Great ending too!

All three of these experiences with continuing drama have been invaluable for learning to structure and develop main and sub-plot lines and interweave them.

In the last few years, I also attended improvisation classes. It was a great experience and a fantastic way to free up my mind and creativity.
