All things that are about natural life
A young boy who’s dog sadly dies. This explains death in a beautiful that’s not so harsh and I feel damaging unlike other books. I wrote this book for my friend who’s son was finding it hard regarding his pet. A pet is part of the family and what you tell a child it can affect you in adulthood.

Freddie and Lola

This week is going so slow. I can’t wait until Saturday because it’s my birthday and I’m going to be nine years old.I have made a big birthday list just like I do at Christmas time but this year I really want a puppy.I do have a dog and she is called Lola but she’s old, my mum and dad got her before I was born. My friend Simon from school has just got a puppy and that’s all he talks about.I’m so jealous of Simon because he’s got a puppy and I’ve got an old dog called Lola and she doesn’t play; she just sleeps and she’s no fun. Simon’s dog is called Max and he’s jet black in colour.
It’s now only two more sleeps till my birthday so tonight Thursday I’m going to bed early so if I sleep more, and then Friday morning will be here quicker. Because when you close your eyes at nigh time it just seems to go so fast and then it’s the morning. Hooray it’s Friday last day of school week and
fish with chips day plus we don’t have to wear school uniform today as well, so I have got my favourite tracksuit on. Then tomorrow is Saturday and it’s my birthday. I’m having some friends round to my house after school today for cake, games and presents for me.I thought school would be fun today, but it wasn’t.Simon was being nasty and mean to me today at school. I told him that he had be extra nice to me today because it’s going to be my birthday tomorrow. Simon didn’t even sit next to me in class. I thought Simon was my best friend, so I ended up sitting next to smelly Molly. We call her smelly Molly because she always smells of sweets or flowers not horrible smells but nice smells My teacher is called Miss Hurley who’s Scottish and she talks funny. After Miss had done the class register, I was told to stand up because it was my birthday Saturday and when it’s your birthday the whole class sings Happy Birthday to you and then they claps and cheer.
The first lesson of the day was maths, and it was fractions, do we really need fractions in life? I don’t think so unless you are cutting a cake.Miss had drawn a circle on the white board but was talking about some sort of pies to be honest I wasn’t really listening to her. I was looking at the circle thinking about my own birthday cake. Once that lesson had finished it was playtime so off, we all went outside to play. When I got outside
“I asked Simon what was wrong and was he still my friend?”
“Yes Freddie of course I’m your friend, we’re best mates.”
“Well, what’s wrong then Simon you don’t seem very happy today and it’s my birthday party later.” Simon then said, “I feel a bit poorly today, but my mum said if I was to sick for school then I will be too sick for your party later. I’ve just got a tummy ache and I so don’t want to miss your party.
The next lesson was P.E then after that it was lunch, I was already starving so I couldn’t wait for fish and chips. Got changed into my shorts and t-shirt already for P.E and the teacher said today we are playing netball.
“Miss netball that’s a girl’s game” all the boys shouted no.
Do you know that all around the world and life men and women, girls and boys are equal so they can play the same games and even do the same jobs?
“Yes, Miss all the girls and boys shouted. Right are you already and then miss blew her whistle to start the game.
Once school had finished my mum was waiting at the school gates for me and some of my friends. I had given my teacher letters just to say who my mum was taking home from school today and that was Simon, Ben and Josh. Mum was at the gate waiting for us all and we all ran over to her I couldn’t wait to get home to play games, eat cake and open my presents from my friends. When we all walked through the front door mum had cakes, drinks, sweets and crisps on the table with paper cups and plates. Mum said “boys help yourselves but if you make a mess clean it up and plates and cups in the recycling bin. Simon was the first one to give me my present. It was a big present, I ripped of the paper, and it was a giant gun that shoots out them foam bullets that’s well cool. I opened the present Ben had got me and it was a telescope. We have been learning about space and the stars at school, so this was a brilliant present I loved it. Then josh just gave me a card and no present. “Thanks, I said” but when I opened the card it had a ten-pound note. Well at least I could buy what wanted. We all had a drink something to eat then went upstairs to my bedroom. I’ve got a big bedroom, have a computer and I have big telly on the wall and a games console.
We played upstairs for a while then went out into the garden to play football. Lola was asleep in her bed I called out to play with us, but she stayed in her bed. That’s why I want a puppy so I can play with it, Lola is no fun. We were all running around the garden playing football and I was shoot them all with my gun Simon had brought me we were all absolutely sweating and puffed out. Mum called us all in so we could have a drink and then mum brought out my birthday cake and they all sang happy birthday to me. After blowing out the candles mum cut the cake so we all could eat a piece. We were eating our cake when Simon’s mum knocked on the door. Mum let her in, and she stayed for a cup of tea.Jenny was telling my mum all about the new puppy .I overheard my mum talking about Lola and that’s she’s old as she 12 years old. She hardly eating now and just sleeps the trouble is you get so attached to them they are just like your family members. “Right come Simon time to go home.” I thanked Simon for my present and said goodbye. Just as Simon was going both Josh and Bens mums turned up at the same time. I thanked them both for coming and for my presents.Mum said, “I’m glad they have all gone let’s get cleaned up a bit.
Me and mum sat on the sofa, and I asked her “what did you mean when you said that I hope Lola goes in her sleep?
“She is getting old now and sadly Lola can’t live for ever.”
“What die, do you mean?” yes Freddie. Mum answer was, “that we all have to die sweetheart one day and that unfortunately is the facts of life.mum said “when your body clock stops, and your lifelong batteries have run out that’s when and you are called to heaven because your life’s work on the earth is completed and that the same for animals and humans. You know that I say we all have blood which goes round the body, and I say this is our body petrol. Then you have your body’s life batteries which are your body organs like your heart, lungs and your brain and everything else in your body. As you know Freddie batteries don’t last forever and when body batteries ran out the sad thing is unfortunately that’s sad for everyone. When someone has died or even your pet everyone will be crying and really upset, sometimes. People have lots of different emotions at this time. Freddie when Lola does die her body batteries will have stopped but did you know everyone, and animals has a soul within our bodies.Your soul are memories that everyone can treasure and although your body may have died, which is sad you will always have your memories to treasure. The sad thing about death is that your body must be prepared for its next journey, and this is called a funeral.Your body or pet is put into a box which is called a coffin, and these can be wooden, cardboard or even wicker. They say that a coffin is a gift box because the most precious things are in there and that be a human or animal, and these are beautiful boxes. Although everyone is crying because they are all sad because they are going to be missed its meant to be a celebration of that persons or your pet.At a funeral the coffin is placed into ground of the garden of a church or sometimes a service is held at a crematorium and the coffin is then placed into a real hot fire called an incinerator. If you have had your celebration funeral at a crematorium you will receive a small gift box with the ashes of your loved one.I know this all sounds shocking and upsetting because it’s someone who you love, and this has happened to them. But unfortunately, you can’t have a died person or animals still with you and like all things that have died they start to smell, and other things happens and it’s not nice.Freddie everyone dies no matter how rich or famous you are we all will die. Some people have different beliefs and religions regarding death and do things very differently but they still under up the same way and go to heaven. Buy giving this gift box of your body or pet you are gifted in return with beautiful flowers, rainbows, butterflies and all the beautiful things that are around you as a thank you. But what you must remember although this is sad that the person who has died has gifted you with their soul memories and that is priceless. But enough about that talk. “Did you have a good time with your friends this afternoon?” yes thank you it was fun.
Dad came home about 6pm and he had pizza after pizza me, mum and dad all took Lola out for a short walk. As she is old now, she can’t walk very far now, so we only walked round the estate where I live.I was telling dad what mum had told me about what happens when you die.Dad said, “that a cheery conversation you and mum had.” I told dad I asked mum because I overheard her talking to jenny about Lola.Right dad said” that’s enough of this chit chat, Freddie you have a birthday tomorrow aren’t you excited about that.” Poor Lola she was really struggling to walk tonight, I don’t think she exercises during the day as we have a dog flap, and she can go in and out when she wants to. Today is Saturday and I have woken up and I am nine years old. I rushed downstairs to open my presents. The front room had balloons and a Happy Birthday banner; it is so exciting. I had four presents all different sizes, but I didn’t know which one to open first. I first present I opened was the biggest one so I ripped of the paper, and it was a metal detector so I can hunt for treasure. Then I opened the others presents and my cards, I ended up with £45. After breakfast dad said do you want to a try your metal detector at the beach?” I will get a shovel from the shed and my wellington boots and Freddie, you will need yours as well. Mum done use a pack up. Dad packed up the car and off we went. It’s about 20 minutes from the house. I asked dad why mum didn’t come with us.He said that Lola was very poorly so mum just wanted to be Lola in case something happens.

In this book it’s about death off a pet. I personally feel that death is not talked about freely and openly unless you know someone or family pet dies. How you tell a child about death if it’s done in a harsh manner and scaring can affect them for the rest of their life.
