Synopsis:
SAMARA narrates her story about growing up as a traditionally raised Muslim girl in Western society. Curious from an early age, Samara sneaks upon an adult movie and discovers that she can have the very same sensations as the characters in the film. During her teens, long-term crush RICK becomes her first boyfriend. Rick goes on to abuse Samara’s trust; getting her to perform a sexual act on a stranger for the sake of obtaining drugs. They break up and Samara is left heartbroken.
Samara is confused about relationships. Her cousin is due to marry, and her sister is easing a guy into their parents’ good graces. Samara’s father gives her two options; marry before the age of 20 to a “suitable” husband, or go to college (university) and choose a man for herself by the age of 25. Samara embarks on college and luckily meets CLEMENT. They connect, but their issue is that she has a much higher sex drive than he does, to the point where Clement finds her libido an embarrassing inconvenience. Samara eventually breaks it off with Clement because she didn’t want to spend her life feeling neglected.
Having lost hope of finding a husband for herself Samara begins to accept that life with a partner is fated to being mundane. When she least expects it, Samara meets FARIS. He had been in Samara’s peripherals her whole life. They court one another but he warns her that he has no money nor career prospects and therefore wouldn’t be a “suitable” husband. Samara knows her parents will object, but she had finally found a man that matched her high libido. More to the point; Samara and Faris are in love. The couple fight for their relationship. They marry by the end and live in a state of true happiness.
