Sarah Nias

Sarah Nias grew up overseas and worked in translation before moving into a career in print production. Returning to education as a mature student, she studied for an MA in English which inspired her to take up her own writing. After participating in several online creative writing courses she was delighted to be shortlisted for the 2018 Trapeze/Orion inaugural love story competition and the 2018 Bridport Short Story competition, followed in 2019 by a longlisting for the Grindstone Short Story competition. During the covid years she has been concentrating on a new novel and a memoir.

This book explores how privilege and tradition, if they divide parents and children from each other, can leave everyone unanchored and at risk of drowning. With travel embedded in its genes, my happy family lived a way of life that became the unstable fault line along which everything broke apart.
