Mary Murphy

Mary Murphy is an Irish-born author whose work explores psychological suspense, identity, and inherited memory across genres and tonal range.
Her latest release, The Confidence Thief (2026), is a work of crime fiction with literary depth and emotional intensity, continuing her examination of perception and moral ambiguity. The Wishing Shelf described it as “a superbly plotted, character-led drama which will keep you riveted till the very last page—perfect for fans of crime novels.”
Her book catalogue also includes the multi-genre collection Speaking Of; the novel The Emerald Diaries – Secrets of an Irish Clan; Sweet Peas and Bees, the first in a children’s series about a flower farm; and the four-book fairy series Away with the Fairies. All of her children’s titles are accompanied by audio and supplementary material.
Her work has been described as “superlative and engrossing,” praised for its evocative and resonant style, reaching readers across generations.
In addition to her writing, Mary is a prolific songwriter, singer and whistle player with ten full-length albums. She has performed internationally, contributed to numerous artistic projects, including film, and is co-owner of Dove Creek Recording Studios.
Born in Wexford, Ireland, she now lives on Vancouver Island, Canada, with her husband Paul, a dog named Norah, and her cats Quilly and Lyla.
