Clear, concise writing
Nice, clear, concise writing. I like the story at the beginning about the lion and how that represents our limiting beliefs. This is a great first chapter, but not the best beginning to your book. The main question I have reading this is who are you and why should I listen to you? That’s something you can address in your intro so the reader can really take in Chapter 1, after having established trust and a relationship with you, the narrator. I LOVE the sine wave example—that’s brilliant. I will remember that. I would like to see more science/case studies/real-life, historical examples, to ground the text and give it weight.
I would have preferred some…
I would have preferred some context explaining the author's credentials for writing this book, and what their intention is, in order to anchor the subject matter more clearly and give more weight to their writing.
I edit a lot of self-help…
I edit a lot of self-help and personal finance books, and so I see a lot of the same advice repeated time and again. I would encourage this author to find the specific knowledge and value additions they can bring to their readers instead of regurgitating advice we've already encountered.
Personal storytelling
This is a comment from a publisher judge who asked us to post this comment:
While easy to comprehend, we’d love to see the writer differentiate themselves from the bulk of other Self Improvement books already on the market. To this end, personal storytelling that allows the reader to get to know, and get to trust, the writer, will be more effective than parable and metaphor.
