This is a very compelling start. Diego’s plight is palpable. Jabri is quite the mystery so far, one that is fascinating and draws the reader forward. The very best YA combines the more fantastical elements (Diego’s physical strength and speed) with grounded, real world complexities (Diego’s mother’s cancer,) and this piece seems set to do just that in a particularly interesting way.Great pacing
