Vet Georgina Rawlings, (GEORGE), works for MARK, and is determined to prove to her parents her rebellious past is over. About to open her own practice and marry accountant ROSS, the son of close family friends, she's set to succeed but then she's gazumped, losing the property to rent for her surgery to rival vet JULIUS. Partnership with Mark, is the answer, persuades TIM- Mark's friend, and a guest she meets at her sister's wedding. He's right. He's also gorgeous.

Mark has reason to despise unscrupulous Julius. With mounting debt and an unhealthy desire for retribution, Mark jumps at George's suggestion of partnership, made without consulting Ross.

Ruthless empire-building Julius uses SARA, his mistress and financial consultant, to spy on practices for acquisition. Blinded by his undeniable charm, she obliges until she hears how he gained George's practice. Furious to have been part of a corrupt deal, she walks out determined to get revenge.

Ross, besotted with George, will do anything for her except agree to partnership with Mark - it conflicts with his career plans.

Tim isn't looking for love and red-heads aren't his type, but George, the fiery red-head with attitude, intrigues him. Bored with his garden centre, he's about to sell and take up a business venture in Barbados. Suddenly the new challenge no longer appeals.

George wants the partnership- Ross concedes to compromise on where they live, but insists on looking at Mark's accounts before she commits and can't believe his luck when he discovers scandalous irregularities. Mark's explanation exonerates him. George is delighted. Ross can't object now, can he?

Except...

Ross interferes with the partnership contract, George's dad has terminal cancer and Tim remains very much in her life, a dangerously exciting presence. They share a love of horses. Ross hates riding. Far too hazardous, he says.

George knows she can't marry Ross and calls off the wedding. Ross refuses to accept it's over, promising the world to have her back. He arranges her partnership loan, agreeing to be her guarantor.

George and Tim become lovers, but exasperated by her obsession with the partnership, Tim flies to Barbados. Temporarily.

George is pregnant with Tim's baby but thinks he's gone for good. Ross will forgive George anything, even an affair, but the pregnancy is the final betrayal. He withdraws as guarantor.

Mark needs cash fast and is tempted by Julius's generous offer to buy him out.

George turns to Sara, who, eager for vengeance, risks her reputation and arranges an unsecured loan for George, thwarting Julius at the same time.

George signs the partnership deed. Her father dies, knowing she's carrying his grandchild.

Months later, George and Tim are reunited. Misinformed by Mark, Tim assumes she's married Ross. She says the last thing she wants is marriage. Neither does he, Tim tells her. Spending the rest of his life with her would suffice.
