Susan Marie Chapman

Susan Marie Chapman is an award winning children's book author. She grew up on a small farm in rural Pennsylvania and is the eldest of eight children. Her love of animals and nature comes through in the stories that she tells. Susan has had a love for writing since the sixth grade when she won an award for a short story that she wrote. It was published in a Reader Digest magazine for young readers. Susan became a Children's Book Author in 2017 when she wrote her first book, "Love, Sugar & Cookie." This is a true story about her twin Pomeranian dog sisters. Susan has just finished book ten and eleven in an ongoing children's book series about an Iguana, who lives in Flamingo Park, in Miami Beach Florida, called Grumpy The Iguana. Sweet Potato lives with her two brothers and her mom and dad. Sweet Potato is a baby screech owl girl who is determined to live her life her own way. Her mom tells her that owls sleep during the day and play at night. Her dad explains that owls are meat eaters. Sweet Potato does not agree.

What a wonderful way to show children an independent spirit! The story is charming and the illustrations are wonderful.

This was a delight to read. I love the characters - especially Sweet Potato - and I'm sure children will too. Magical and a little different. Well done.
