Paul Twivy

Paul has an MA in English Literature from Oxford University. He wrote and performed comedy, professionally, both live on stage and for TV and radio, with Ian Hislop, and Richard Curtis, the romantic comedy screenplay writer.

His play - “A New Adam and Eve”- was performed by the Haymarket Theatre Company, in 1993.

In 2004, he researched, collated and edited a book about social and environmental actions everyone could undertake in their daily lives: “Change the World for a Fiver”. It sold 1.2 million copies worldwide and was translated into several languages.

In 2015, BiteBack published Paul’s book - “Be Your Own Politician: Why it’s time for a new kind of politics” - based on his work with 3 UK Prime Ministers. It was very well reviewed, featuring heavily on the BBC, and was a major newspaper’s Book of the Week.

Paul first novel – “Hallowed Ground: The Mystery of the African Fairy Circles” – was published in October 2019 and was runner-up in the People’s Book Prize. Paul is currently adapting it into a screenplay with two Namibian writers and support from the Namibian government.

Paul is writing a feature film entitled "Forgotten Saviour" about the man who fought successfully against both the plague and cholera, but who, due to anti-semitism and a miscarriage of justice, has been buried in obscurity for almost 100 years. We wouldn't have survived Covid without him.

He is also writing a stage play entitled “Chaos Theory” a comedy which turns dark, exploring why order has collapsed into anger, division and tribalism.

Paul is a graduate of the Faber Academy novel writing course: one of the top three novel writing courses in the UK, run by publishers, Faber & Faber. He has completed two screenwriting courses at the National Film and Television School, and one at Raindance. He has also undertaken two playwriting courses at the Central School of Speech and Drama, London.
