Penny Weston, Founder of MADE and the Director at Moddershall Oaks 5* Country Spa Retreat is judging the 2022 Book Award. Penny is a wellness entrepreneur, business owner and first-time mum who resides in Staffordshire with her fitness enthusiast husband Andy and beagle Bugsy.

Director of award-winning Moddershall Oaks Country Spa Retreat and founder of MADE, a 360 degrees wellness centre, Penny has a rich history leading successful businesses, all while learning to balance the challenges of health and family life.

Penny became Duty Manager at Staffordshire’s leading spa at the age of 19 and soon after Director at the age of 24. Taking the business from a small family-run health club to a prominent and leading destination spa in the UK with over 100 employees, Penny has been involved in all aspects of its success from marketing and sales to operations.
Previous winner of The Sentinel Young Business Person of the year, Penny is self-motivated and has a relentless drive to achieve. Constantly pushing boundaries in her personal journey, with her staff and her business, Penny continuously achieves the very best.

MADE, a forward-thinking wellness centre which is the first of its kind in Staffordshire, was born from a personal journey of health for Penny. Penny struggled with her relationship with food for a long time resulting in many negative effects including tiredness, bloating, bad skin and stomach cramps. Having been hospitalized throughout her journey and suffering with a collapsed lung at a young age due to severe asthma, Penny turned to fitness and nutrition to turn her health around.

What started initially as a side business in healthy, brightly coloured, sugar-free treats soon became a successful and fruitful business plan which opened in August 2018. Complete with a boutique fitness gym, studios, treatment rooms, retail shop and healthy café, MADE focusses on all angles of health and wellbeing from mental health to physical health. Penny is dedicated to demonstrating how making small changes to routines, people can experience big results to happiness, energy levels and mental state. Penny makes a positive impact of every person she comes across, teaching them that they can develop positive relationships with food and have a desire to become more active – just like she did.

During all of this development and success, Penny became a first-time Mum to her little boy, Teddy in 2019. This brings a new dynamic to her life as she continues to focus on her health, run her lucrative businesses on one arm and nurture her baby boy in the other. Juggling accounts and growing businesses alongside a growing baby, Penny has picked up a lot of tips along the way and believes that everything is possible with dedication and action.
