Maria Robins from Auckland, New Zealand has been shortlisted in the Page Turner Awards eBook Non-Fiction Award for her non-fiction children’s eBook, I AM Calm: How To Leave Your Worries Behind
Maria entered the Page Turner Awards, where published authors and unpublished writers of fiction and non-fiction across all genres can enter their writing to get discovered by high-profile judges from the literary world.
I AM Calm: How To Leave Your Worries Behind is written in a whimsical rhyming style with corresponding illustrations and contains easy-to-remember coping strategies, that use the combination of a positive mindset and basic breathing techniques, to help kids (and adults) conquer their worries and fears.
Anxiety is on the rise worldwide and especially in our young people. Having dealt with it first-hand in her life, Maria wanted to write something simple and fun that would give kids coping strategies to help when they are feeling anxious or stressed.
The book is written in a fun rhyming style to make it easier to remember what to do and with the aim of helping stressed out parents reading to children to also receive a calm and gentle reminder of their own.
Anxiety is something that Maria has had to learn to deal with in her own life. She knows how debilitating it can be, so this book was a good reminder for herself also.
Maria said: “The Page Turner Awards are a wonderful way to feel inspired and encouraged about your work. Connecting with other authors and receiving their feedback is also a bonus, as sometimes writing can be a solitary experience, one that is filled with buoyant optimism one moment and total self-doubt the next! I AM delighted and grateful for being shortlisted. This honour has encouraged me to get back to the writing board! Thank you, Page Turner Awards, for your incredible efforts in making these awards happen for authors all around the world.”

The Page Turner Awards, sponsored by ProWritingAid, gives writers and authors the chance to enter unpublished or published fiction and non-fiction books, where a group of literary agents and publishers will read the work.
Judges are carefully selected literary agents and publishers who are looking for writers to represent and publish, plus influencers in the publishing industry.
Founder of Page Turner Awards and award-winning novelist, Paula Wynne said: “There are writers from all walks of life, from manual labourers to academics. All with stories to tell, most of them heart-warming and moving. We’re proud that our Awards celebrates excellent writing and helps writers and authors to get their stories discovered.”
Success stories from this year’s awards include three writers winning literary representation, six writers winning a writing mentorship, five writers winning a publishing contract and thirteen independent authors winning an audiobook production.
